DFW Actors Give Back Proudly Donates $10,500 to Children’s Cancer Fund
Holidazzle Encore! brought together the shining stars of the Dallas/Fort Worth theater community during 2013 to produce and sell a compilation of holiday songs ranging from traditional to contemporary. The ultimate result came in the form of a $10,500 check to Children’s Cancer Fund.
Holidazzle Encore! is the third CD created by DFW Actors Give Back, which has contributed more than $35,000 to area children’s charities since 2009. DFW Actors Give Back Founder and President, Bob Hess, said he has been overwhelmed by the support of the DFW community.
“The Children’s Cancer Fund became very important to all of us in the community when one of our own faced the daunting task of dealing with childhood cancer,” Hess said. ”We are grateful to the Serber family for letting us share Libby’s story to help raise money for this amazing organization.”
The DFW Actors Give Back board especially thanks the theaters that supported the project: Our Productions Theatre Co., Theatre 3, Uptown Players, WaterTower Theatre, Dallas Children’s Theater, Denton Community Theatre, Kitchen Dog Theater, One Thirty Productions, Onstage in Bedford, Plaza Theatre Company and Theatre Arlington.
Children’s Cancer Fund began as a coalition of parents whose children were receiving cancer care at Children’s Medical Center. Today, CCF supports families and doctors in the fight against childhood cancer in north Texas. Funds raised by Children’s Cancer Fund help to advance research and treatment programs in pediatric oncology at Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center Dallas, which ultimately benefits children worldwide.
