In December 2008, a group of five individuals, all with ties to the local theatre scene, were eager to find some way that they, as artists, could give back to our community. Even more, as they noticed the enormous wealth of creative gifts possessed by their colleagues, they asked themselves, “Why not come up with a way for ALL of the performing artists of our theatre community — from actors to singers to directors — to give of themselves as a means of enriching the quality of life in the DFW Metroplex?”
That dream was realized by forming the Five Friends Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation, and establishing the DFW Actors Give Back project. This effort was created to tap the talents and time of local artists as a means of benefiting a group so worthy of our assistance — the children of the DFW Metroplex.
In 2009, DFW Actors Give Back proudly presented its first offering, Holidazzle 2009, a CD collection of holiday songs performed by the shining stars of the Dallas/Fort Worth musical theatre scene. In our inaugural year, we generated nearly $10,000 for the worthy children’s charity, Jonathan’s Place.
In 2011, DFW Actors Give Back is proud to present its second holiday recording, Holidazzle Act II. The second recording includes more of our theatre community than ever as well as a huge children’s chorus.
